Dogs are always curious about what’s happening at the dining room table. Chinese takeout or Christmas desserts, good for them or not, they want what we’re having.

We've seen a number of dazzling pet food brands start small and then change significantly when they expand or are acquired. One of our favorite brands, though, Fromm Family Foods, produces an exceptional product (through five generations!) by staying small, developing expertise, and remaining family owned.

Fromm creates foods for dogs (and, as it happens, cats) that meet the highest standards for quality and a pet’s overall wellbeing. Their business is built on using simple, traceable, and sustainable ingredients that are rigorously tested for your best friend’s safety and your peace of mind. They offer lines of both wet and dry foods that combine meat, vegetables, and (sometimes) grains, in individualized recipes that cater to dogs of every size and every age, from puppy to senior, and from active dogs, to dogs with dietary restrictions. To make sure you’re getting a meal that’s good enough for your pet, and for your table, Fromm offers expert customer support that can help guide you through the process of making the best selections for your pet’s needs.

If you're looking for a kibble, we're especially fond of Fromm's Four-Star recipes.  They're formulated so that you can feed your dog the different recipes interchangeably, without worrying about stomach upset, so mealtime can be unique every day of the week: Beef Fritatta, Duck a la Veg, Chicken au Frommage, Lamb & Lentil, Pork & Applesauce, among others. Both grain-inclusive and grain-free recipes are available.  All include probiotics to promote good gut health.

Just don’t expect to buy them with the click of a button. They only sell through vetted distributors like our Dogish Newtonville store. Supply can go fast, though, so make sure to check in with us.  We'd love to accommodate special orders and requests.

Bon appétit!
