FAQ
How long is a grooming session?
We know how important it is to you that your dog feels secure and well cared for — and how much you look forward to having your dog back home. We do our best to make grooming as efficient and stress-free as possible. In most cases, about three hours gives us enough time for a full bath, blow-dry, and trim. As soon as your dog is finished and ready to head home, we’ll give you a call right away.
Why is a grooming session three hours long on average?
To achieve the best results, your dog’s coat should be thoroughly clean and dry before trimming. While we work efficiently, we resist rushing, which can lead to mistakes or sub-standard results. We try our best to balance effectiveness and good care with speed. We find that 3 hours is typically the right amount of time to allow for bathing, drying, and coat trimming.
We’ll give you a call right away when your dog’s grooming session is finished, and they’re ready to head home.
When should my puppy schedule his or her first groom?
A puppy who is socialized to the grooming process when young will grow up to enjoy this regular and important activity. We recommend a slow introduction to the grooming setting and tools starting at 3-4 months of age. The first visit will include our Puppy Partial Groom, consisting of a conditioning shampoo bath, a towel drying, a gentle introduction to the hand dryer, and a gentle application of the brush and comb. We then recommend follow-up groomings at 4-6 week intervals. By the third visit, most puppies will be comfortable and ready for a full grooming and haircut. We are always honored to be chosen by a family to care for their dog’s grooming needs. We’re especially thrilled to be part of a dog’s grooming journey from puppy-hood.
Do you groom cats?
Yes! Please call us to schedule cat grooming during quiet hours. A Partial Cat Grooming service includes a dry bath, a nail trim, and ear cleaning. A Full Cat Grooming includes, in addition, a full haircut.
